A personal security 24/7

pinnacleWhen our next door neighbor’s house got attacked by robbers, the whole neighborhood got paranoid. We live in a pretty quiet area in the suburbs so it was a shock that a break in happened to our next door neighbor’s house no less! Thank God no one from them got hurt, they just lost some valuables which can be easily replaced. We are just thankful that they are still alive or didn’t get hurt after that incident. That made most of my neighbors think about security systems in order to protect us from future possible attacks from thieves. I was resolved that my own home needed a reliable home security system for my own safety. I checked into wireless security systems since I believe getting that would be more convenient. And rightly so. The system works well not only to guard my house from thieves but also from fire and other emergencies. There is no harm in being extra careful. In fact, it is a must to be extra careful in this day and age when some lowlife might suddenly barge into your house to steal your belonging or worse. The feeling of having that security 24/7 makes sleeping at night so relaxing and peaceful.

That incident seems no longer a reality now that it has been two years since the whole neighborhood decided to install a security system. It was a process but it worked well for all of us. As expected, no more incident followed. I believe that the mere thought of having those security systems scares off robbers and other people with bad intention. I just hope all the other communities would consider that. Yes it requires investment on money but remember that safety, security and peace of mind is priceless.

Safety first!

car_ID2When my cousin passed away due to a car accident, I’ve become very particular with the safety features of whatever car I get in to. It is like my new obsession: I never fail to check if the breaks work, if the tires are in perfect condition, if the seat belts are comfortable (and durable!), if the front and back lights really function… All the time I remember my cousin’s untimely death and I get angry with the fact that her death could have been prevented had necessary precautions were in place. Her car, which had a malfunctioning seatbelt and backlights, was the main culprit why she did not survive. These “little” things are often disregarded until tragedy strikes.

A week after her burial, I had my car thoroughly checked for safety reasons. True to what I feared, some safety features of my car were absent. For one, it didn’t have a rain guard and the windows were too transparent. That could potentially disable me from seeing clearly while driving especially on a sunny day. My car also did not have a properly visible tail light and that spelled trouble. I asked my good friend to look for the auto accessories I needed to make my car safer. Hurriedly, I had my car redesigned to make it accident-proof as much as possible.

The first thing I did was to have my front window tinted so as to protect me from the blinding light of the sun. Rain guards were also attached in the side and back windows so as to make me see clearly when it rains. Next, my car’s tail lights were made brighter to allow other drivers to see my car clearly. I know that to someone who hasn’t experienced death in the family due to a car accident, these things may sound unnecessary. But the truth is, we need to take these “little” but necessary steps to ensure that our cars have the best safety features available.

Throwing a party for the man of the house was a tough challenge. I knew for a fact that barrels of his favorite draft should not go amiss. A restaurateur friend has recommended that I go for a crawfish feast. It was not a bad idea, because the beer goes well with the sumptuous crawfish. Anyhow, it knew it was quite off season and that getting a hand on a fresh catch can be too costly.

The same friend advised me of the online resource where there are
live crawfish for sale on and off season. The other bonus part is that shipping can be for free provided the orders get through between Tuesdays through Thursdays. It is an irresistibly fresh bargain that I accomplished in less than an hour.

Another challenge was the cooking part. My restaurateur friend was helpful enough and burdening him with cooking a superb dish out of the fresh crawfish was just too much. Before I even searched for a website for an easy crawfish recipe, I figured out that the live crawfish for sale can be delivered cooked.

It was like hitting a hole in one – the website was extremely helpful to have the crawfish arrive at my doorstep just in time for my husband’s beer party. Aside from ditching the usual pizza, pasta and other healthy unfriendly feasts, I got them to eat crawfish that had loads of calcium and magnesium instead of the dreaded bad cholesterol and unwanted calories.

Usually, it is easy for me to be creating webpages as I was one of those who first learned web page designing in its earliest form which was HTML where you had to employ codes and syntaxes and sequence them properly in order to come up with a design. But these days. I am really finding it quite hard to understand the new programs that when I tried to learn one of them a few months back , I gave up in the middle as I found myself really frustrated when I did not get it right after so many tries. So I tried to cool off my mind and went online and just randomly searched about new websites when I came upon a term called free website . And I never thought there was something like this now. I clicked the link and came up in www.wix.com and really, this is such an interesting site. I tried to use it and experiment in it and frankly, I found it so easy to use. Very user friendly and clear instructions making designing pages in here like knowing the back of your hand. And when you run out of ideas, you can always go check up on sample sites they have for ideas and since it has a drag and drop editor, you will never find it hard to do anything you want inside its premises. Such an amazing site isn’t it? I feel like getting back to web design after all of this.
